Cotendo Deploys New Open-Source Automatic Website Optimization Technology
Network content delivery and acceleration value added service provider site Cotendo (www.cotendo.com) has deployed automatic page speed optimization service new code that uses the open source project mod_pagespeed engine optimization development of Google (www.google.com).
Cotendo according to the announcement on Wednesday, the new service implements a set of best practices designed to minimize the time automatically load the page and improve the performance of code that passes through a CDN.
Cotendo said he worked closely with Google to improve the code mod_pagespeed to help address the challenges of massive scale environments, content delivery and deployment to multiple customers and different specific configurations of a service environment.
“Speed is key for every product we develop,” said Google engineering director Arvind Jain in a statement. “We worked with Cotendo mod_pagespeed to suit your application platform, and moved quickly from concept to product code, showing impressive speed in site performance of its customers.”
Unlike the systems or methods that try to optimize the site code during development or deployment to a Web server, Mod_pagespeed simply plugs into Apache, the most widely used web server, as in the fly HTML optimizer.
This new service automatically optimizes Cotendo code HTML pages to enter the CDN to provide immediate benefits to Web application acceleration and delivery page. The new service also caching Cotendo optimize and reduce the number of data requests and the size of the page load.
When processing within its network, reports Cotendo these code modifications, together, can reduce the image size from 20 to 30 percent and the time of page load up to 50 percent on top of acceleration already achieved by existing services Cotendo acceleration site.
“We are delighted to work with Google to implement and market an innovative service that makes the web faster,” said executive director Ronni Zehavi Cotendo in a statement. “We believe technology smarter, as our application platform performance, play an important role in advancing the basis of the capacity needed to support the best ideas from our partners and customers.”
Cotendo and Google jointly submitted this new technology for the first time Wednesday at ApacheCon 2010 in Atlanta.
