cPanel Reveals RC0

Web hosting control panel software provider cPanel (www.cpanel.com) introduced the “release candidate” 0 “of its first Microsoft Windows Server 2008-based product Enkompass. With its hosting automation tools, traditionally based Linux and FreeBSD, cPanel is collaborating with Microsoft to offer its customers a broader range of platforms with Microsoft IIS7.

According to cPanel, Enkompass installed on a server and IIS7 comes to provision accounts on the web multiple mail servers and database, allowing hosts to easily add capacity by adding servers as it expands its customer base.

“Microsoft has demonstrated a strong commitment to the hospitality industry in recent years,” CEO J. cPanel Nick Koston, said in a statement. “The development team of Windows cPanel Microsoft feels that IIS7 offers a robust, high performance Web server with added security that the industry adopt quickly. Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and IIS7 with its modern architecture and support for legacy products was the natural starting point for our expanded product offering. ”

With a decade of experience in automation, cPanel Enkompass built from the ground in native Windows technologies to provide greater flexibility. It was designed specifically for use in a distributed server environment, allowing one or more servers Enkompass web server management in a Windows domain, allowing for easy automation and maintenance of a server farm or data center.

Enkompass interface mirrors that of cPanel and WHM for Linux, helping staff and customers understand the products without having to learn their daily work. And while many features are the same as Enkompass cPanel and WHM for Linux as a distributor of products rich and the environment has characteristics that make no sense in Windows have been removed, and some Windows-only features have been added.

Both mail systems are supported MailEnable and SmarterMail. SmarterTools has even created a special “lite” version of SmarterMail with unlimited domains that works only with Enkompass. In addition, Enkompass create databases and user accounts to MySQL 5, Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and 2008.

cPanel has also tightened security using Active Directory, keeping user information and distributor of privileges are stored securely. The structure of the dealer also has been enhanced with various levels of resale, in essence, letting the dealers sell to resellers.
