Equinix Sydney Data Center Houses PIPE International

Data center operator Equinix (www.equinix.com) announced on Tuesday that www.pipeinternational.com PIPE International () has selected Equinix as a key supplier for its new cable interconnection of PIPE Pacific submarine cable.

Through Equinix Sydney-1 International Business Data Exchange Center, located on its campus in Sydney, PIPE Equinix will provide access to the aggregation of leading carriers operating in Australia the center.

In addition to the Sydney IBX data centers, PIPE is also using the Equinix data centers in Tokyo and San Jose.

Newly established International PIPE PPC-1 submarine cable stretches 22,632 feet of Guam to the point of landing in Sydney.

With a capacity of 2.56TB per second, the PPC-1 system will provide significant additional capacity to Australia as well as provide connectivity to Asia and the United States.

“We are delighted to have been selected by the International pipeline to help create interest in the market for the PPC-1 submarine cable project,” said Samuel Lee, president of Equinix Asia-Pacific. “We offer a highly effective and safe for traffic distribution is optimized for the Australian market and increase the options for international transit and transport services outside Australia. The PPC-1 cable system will also allow our customers to increase the strength of its international network and provide additional redundancy.

Equinix currently operates IBX data centers in 18 countries. The houses of two facilities on the campus of Sydney, Sydney and Sydney-1-2.

Between the two facilities, the company has a total area of about 120,000 square meters. The campus data center underwent a $ 3.8 million expansion in November 2006 which added 10,000 square feet of space and 400 cabinets.
