Equinix to build $100M Data Center in Washington DC

As part of its 1.4 billion U.S. dollars expansion program several years the data center operator Equinix (www.equinix.com) will be the building $ 100 million data center International Business Data Exchange Center Washington area on campus.

The Washington Business Journal reported that Equinix will be designing the new facilities to meet the demands of its existing telecommunications customers and to government customers and contractors.

The Ashburn facility is part of Equinix’s expansion program for 15 of the 18 markets where it currently operates. In late 2009, it has invested more than $ 1 billion in the expansion since early 2007. Less than three weeks, Equinix opened its fourth International Business Exchange data center in the Los Angeles area, which was also part of the expansion.

Equinix has been very active in its 18 markets around the world in which business operates 45 international exchange of data centers. In July, Equinix unveiled plans to build its fourth IBX data center in Zurich, Switzerland.
