Facebook to Release Web Server Framework

Social Media Facebook community on Thursday revealed through his blog developer is releasing an open source, web server framework designed for developers to create applications that allow users to send status updates in real time.

Entitled Tornado, open source technology web server is written in the Python language and is able to process thousands of simultaneous connections.

On this blog, David Recordon, Open Up Program Manager writes: “The Tornado is a central piece of infrastructure that powers the FriendFeed real-time functionality, which we intend to pursue actively. Tornado Though similar to existing web frameworks in Python … focuses on speed and handling large amounts of simultaneous traffic.

Recordon said the company also chose to make open source technology as a means of increasing innovation in the Web. ”

Updates in real time has recently been popularized by the microblogging site Twitter and Facebook has been hoping to continue this trend.

In April, Facebook launched its application programming interface open flow that allows developers to build applications that these notifications, access Facebook and help users manage them.

Bret Taylor, product manager at Facebook, deeper into the technical details about Tornado in his blog.

Tornado source code is now available on GitHub, as well as documentation and a mailing list of developers.
