Submitted by on 4 March, 2018 – 4:32 am

The Food and Drug Administration U.S. has awarded a five-year, $ 53,000,000 contract service provider GlobalNet information technology (www.gnsi.com) for web hosting services and support.

According to GlobalNet Services announced Tuesday that provide Web content management, web site development and support services for internal and external websites of the FDA and Web applications. The contract includes a base year and four option years.

“The public sector, regulators and other government agencies rely on the FDA Web site to provide timely and accurate,” GlobalNet Services president and CEO Ori Reiss said in a statement. “The selection of the FDA GlobalNet Services to continue to manage and support web hosting services of the Agency validates our position as a leading innovator of IT. After having worked with the Agency for over 15 years, we a thorough understanding of the needs of the FDA, along with the expertise to develop innovative and profitable solutions to improve the future of the FDA web hosting and support needs. ”

Under the terms of the agreement, GlobalNet Services will maintain and enhance the intranet and Internet sites by the FDA and provide project management, hosting, application development and maintenance, search solutions and expertise to support Web FDA of content management systems and applications. It will also provide analysis and Web services caching.

Last month, GlobalNet Services announced it will begin offering accommodation for government agencies in collaboration with dedicated and managed server hosting provider Rackspace (www.rackspace.com), which provide the basic infrastructure necessary for these solutions.

“By adding our hosting solutions for GlobalNet Services GSA schedule, customers will have access to some of the same features, functionality and customer service as the company Rackspace, including enhanced redundancy, quality of service and additional layers of support “Rackspace North American channel sales director Rajiah Christopher said in a statement.

Governments have been increasingly looking to outside service providers to reduce costs and provide a robust online service performance and enhanced user experience. In March, the U.S. government said they embark on the largest data consolidation center of the story, the reduction of more than 1,100 data centers federal agencies. The White House further that commitment last month when he issued a note to try to establish concrete plans for the consolidation of data centers across all federal government agencies.

While there is a unit of government IT outsourcing, often requires the robust security architecture and flexible to meet internal security requirements of customers and regulators.

Reiss said that Rackspace helps provide the necessary level of service and security. “By offering services Rackspace, along with our services to customers of our government, we are not only simplifying the management and maintenance of the hosting process, we are also improving performance, stability and security of their systems.”
