IBM Lotus Connections Software Brings Consumer Social Networking Features to the Office
Realizing the benefits of Web 2.0 and Enterprise 2.0, IBM is providing a complete platform of social software for businesses with the launch of Lotus Connections 2.5. The new software is being announced at a summit of IBM’s collaboration worldwide in Cambridge, Massachusetts attended by hundreds of customers, partners and IBM experts met to discuss the future development of business collaboration.
The news today of Lotus Connections is being conducted in collaboration with the IBM Center for Social Software Symposium this week, marking the first anniversary of the launch of the Center for Social Software. Lotus Connections 2.5 includes an enhanced experience Communities with new features and capabilities. Using social software features such as tagging, ratings, recommendations, and observation skills, the solution offers an effective way for colleagues to share, view and comment on the content.
New integrated mobile support for the iPhone and Nokia S60 devices allows access to the profiles of Lotus Connections, activities and blogging services. Now the professionals who frequently travel or work remotely can update their status and location of people in their profiles directly from mobile devices.
Moreover, the new version of Lotus Connections offers a number of improvements to existing services, including the Home Page, Blogs, Scores and activities offered in the previous version of the platform.

From Lotus Connections is based on industry standards, providing integration with Microsoft SharePoint. This integration allows users to search in Lotus Connections profile within Microsoft SharePoint, Lotus Connections cards integrate into Microsoft SharePoint and provides access to Lotus Connections cloud web part tag for use in Microsoft SharePoint.
