Hosted Exchange provider Intermedia (www.intermedia.net) announced on Wednesday it has launched hosted Unison, the first unified communications hosted service designed for small and medium enterprises.

On the basis of Unison 3.0 unified communications software company Unison, Intermedia service is specifically designed to support multi-tenant hosting and high reliability that comes with that approach.

The service integrates email, phone, chat, presence, contacts, calendar and more in a single service, and supports wireless synchronization of email, contacts and calendar.

Intermedia manages all aspects of service delivery Unison organized, including the existence of telephone and voice service.

The service is backed by the support of 24-hour Intermediate, migration tools and a multi-million dollar infrastructure that includes four data centers.

users interact with Unison Unison Desktop, which offers a look similar to Microsoft Outlook 2007, and comes in two versions for Linux and Windows.

“Complex implementations and high costs have closed small and medium businesses of unified communications,” said Serguei Sofinski, CEO of Intermedia. “However, these benefits they need to level the playing field with big business and preserve the funds for growth. It is the next step in our continued mission to provide small businesses with communications services that are incredibly powerful and simple to operate reliably.

Unison CMO Rurik Bradbury joined representatives from Google, Apptix, Microsoft and Xchange Open in a business meeting Wednesday at the track Parallels Summit 2010, which discussed how unified communications can generate new revenue streams.
