Founded by former Microsoft employee Jon Vincent, Kikini, which is based in San Diego, launched in late September. Vicente – along with four other developers at Microsoft and her sister Rachel, who acts as a marketing director to work to ensure that all appropriate privacy settings in place – he got the idea in 2007 but only began to work in him last year.

Vicente said the main difference between Kikini and other sites like OKCupid dating site, Match.com and eHarmony is that it makes the actual process of finding nice people and that the site is as much about the outcome, as it is on journey to get there. The other major difference is that users should use. “Edu” email address to register.

More like Facebook than his contemporaries dating site, the site introduces the visitor automatically to other users in the area are.

The website is simple, and users are not required to create a broad profile. Each user page consists of a picture, some of the interests of users and labeling of three surveys. Surveys such as “What kind of ice cream is this person?” They are meant to be fun, no pressure and flirty way to start a conversation, said Vicente.

“The surveys are much more informal and fun,” he said. “We are able to recognize the model algorithms to match people up [on the basis of that answer in the polls].”

The site bases its action on simple and fresh innovation. Vincent said the site is only for college students, believing that one in four years in college is the best time to date.

“It’s the time you want to meet people,” he said. “Everyone is interested, but is also one of the most difficult to make because students are busy with classes and extracurricular activities.”
