Japanese IT Firm KVH Selects Infinera Digital Optical Network
Japanese integrated communications and IT management solutions company KVH (http://www.kvh.co.jp/en) announced Tuesday that it has selected long-haul optical systems company Infinera (www.infinera.com) digital optic network to deliver speed, scalability and low latency to their corporate customers.
Headquartered in Tokyo, KVH offers integrated communications and IT management solutions including managed services, data networking, Internet access and voice services to enterprise customers with networks of health facilities in Tokyo, Yokohama and Osaka.
KVH offers ultra low latency proximity hosting solutions to high-frequency business community in Japan.
The company selected Infinera DTN digital ROADM System with Integrated Switching OTN after customers began demanding multi-Gigabit connections for applications such as high frequency trading, disaster recovery and real-time backup of storage area network .
With the Infinera DTN network, KVH can serve from 1 Gb / s to 40 Gb / s, which will soon increase to 100 Gb / s.
Infinera’s systems are powered by photonic integrated circuits that are designed up to 8 terabits per second of capacity on the side line of the entire network.
Infinera’s Bandwidth Virtualization architecture enables network users the ability to scale PIC-based flexible to take any service available from any of the points on the network without optical impairments or limitations typical of all-optical ROADMs.
KVH display the NTD with the new multi-protocol software provisionable Tax adapter modules deliver 6.0 to 4 Gb / s and 10 Gb / s of Fibre Channel services to support disaster recovery services and backup storage .
These new products began shipping in the third quarter of 2010.
Infinera network can offer KVH reducing latency through the network. After initial deployment in the Tokyo metropolitan area, KVH intends to deploy Infinera networks in Yokohama and Osaka.
“Our new Infinera network support us in our goals to lead the market with new services for our business customers, especially customers in the financial services industry, to further strengthen our approach in networks of ultra-high speed and ultra low-latency network services and cloud computing, “said Dr. Guo Zhongmin, KVH vice president of telecommunications and international business unit.
The Infinera DTN is the first optical networking system powered by large-scale photonic integrated circuits.
Worldwide long distance and metro core networks implemented, the DTN combines high-capacity DWDM transport, integrated digital bandwidth and GMPLS service intelligence in one platform.
