Level 3 Expands Operations
SAN FRANCISCO – Level 3 Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: LVLT) announced today that it has expanded its operations and growing its local presence in northern California, including San Francisco, San Jose, Oakland and Sacramento. This initiative reflects the continued commitment of Level 3 to increase its presence in local markets throughout the country, aimed at providing middle market companies with an experience of world-class customer.

In support of this effort to expand local, level 3 is to grow and realign its local workforce in Northern California to combine a local presence, deep knowledge in the market and extensive experience in the communications industry. Through a combination of its extensive backbone network, the trace of fiber optic metro and local sales approach and customer care team, Level 3 provides more market opportunities for companies to harness broad portfolio of services Level 3 communications.

Through this initiative, Level 3 leverage existing network assets of more than 450 route miles of metro fiber in northern California. In addition, Level 3 plans to increase network capacity in the region and increase the number of companies that are directly connected to the Level 3 network. This expansion will provide middle market companies with access to the full range of Level 3 services and allows them to quickly and easily increase bandwidth as business needs grow.
The expansion of operations in northern California is the continuation of a strategy of local approach level 3 successfully launched in mid 2009.
