Microsoft Announces Cloud-Based Productivity and Collaboration Suite
In what some anticipate a joint challenge Google’s online productivity tools, Microsoft (www.microsoft.com) is bringing together business deals and cooperation under the new brand for Microsoft Office 365, which combines the advantages of Office desktop software and Office Web Apps with SharePoint, Exchange and recently published unified communications offering online Lync.
According to Microsoft’s announcement this week, 365 will replace Office Live Small Business Office, Live @ edu, and subscription-based messaging company and collaboration products known as Microsoft Business Productivity Online Suite or BPOS.

365 Office will allow companies to scale their infrastructure quickly. Microsoft said the 365 Office will be available next year throughout the world, and will expand to provide new services to new audiences. Later next year, Microsoft said it will unveil the 365 Office for the education of students, teachers and school staff, and Dynamics CRM Online will join the 365 family office services next year, giving customer experience business productivity even more complete.
Microsoft announced a limited beta program for Office 365 with registration from 19 October to noon Pacific Time.
