mSpoke Acquired by LinkedIn
LinkedIn recently announced it made its first acquisition, buying services recommendation mSpoke an undisclosed price
It seems that this is largely a technology purchase for LinkedIn as the company seeks to keep users more engaged on the site. In a statement, the CEO of LinkedIn, said Jeff Weiner, “mSpoke and LinkedIn common approach in the generation of relevant content that this acquisition a natural fit for us. We are actively investing in solutions that help provide valuable professional knowledge LinkedIn members. ”
The site recently has swollen up in their social characteristics, for example, the restructuring of its role in groups with “I like” Go ahead and debate options. LinkedIn has also been building more features of Facebook and Twitter-like, first with a news service which now occupies most of the real estate in users’ home pages and more recently with new options for link exchange pumping for users on the site news.
Presumably mSpoke technology will help the surface of this content and create a news service’s most advanced LinkedIn users. Currently this channel is a fairly mild chronologically ordered list of updates (many of which are imported from Twitter), but you can imagine the development of social network Facebook, just over the product and highlight the most important news and updates to its professional network.
