Parallels Desktop 4 for Windows and Linux Leverages Industry-Leading Mac Technology to Enable Widespread Adoption of PC Virtualization

Submitted by on 7 August, 2018 – 4:32 pm

Parallels, a global leader in virtualization and automation software, today launched a new easy-to-use desktop solution that is meant to enable widespread adoption of Computer virtualization. Parallels Desktop four for Windows and Linux can be installed on top of a Windows or Linux host operating system ( OS ), and then used to run any mix of guest Windows and Linux OSs at the same time on one Computer . This complete, reasonable solution is supported with integrated tools and applications that guarantee virtual Computer environments can be simply managed by a broad spread of users, including company IT groups, power users, testers and developers.

“Desktop virtualization is expanding into main line areas like enterprise-wide desktop deployment and we envision IT environments where VMs can be utilized quickly and freely between different platforms, helping people and businesses maximise the value of computing,” claimed Serguei Beloussov, Head honcho of Parallels.

“To achieve this, Parallels Desktop four for Windows and Linux delivers a well-supported, high performing solution that makes Computer virtualization reasonable and accessible for a far wider audience. “Parallels’ Computer virtualization gives us one straightforward solution to address a number of eventualities that arise in developing and selling our software to the money industry,” expounded Jonathan Hartley, Software Engineer, Resolver Systems. “The solution enables us to run multiple operating systems at the same time so we are able to demo our software to clients, create sandboxes for testing and avoid compatibility conflicts. Parallels Desktop four for Windows and Linux helps cut the price of buying new hardware as users can run multiple OSs side by side on a single machine.

Built on Parallels’ market leading Parallels FastLane design, it is meant to run virtualized 32 and 64 bit OSs and applications up to 8 times quicker than ever, thanks to increased support for at least 8 virtual CPUs and 8 gb. of virtual RAM. The solution contains a configuration and management Graphical control panel ( GUI ) that simplifies the method of making new Virtual Machines ( VMs ). Parallels Desktop four for Windows and Linux leverages Parallels’ hi-performance adaptive hypervisor, as well as prize winning, patent-pending technologies like Coherence and SmartX tools, including USB compatibility : inventions that permit users to seamlessly run different OSs and their applications side by side.

Parallels’ easy-to-use migration tools are also integrates in the new solution , for example Parallels Transporter, allowing users to quickly capture physical environments or import other 3rd party virtual machines. For example, Parallels Compressor automatically cleans up the remaining space on virtual hard drives to keep VMs compact and running up to fifty percent better. Parallels Image Tool permits users to modify the size, type and properties of virtual disk files and give the power to grow over a period of time. More in particular, the packed solution incorporates a number of tools and applications that enable:.

Application testing : Create sandboxed environments to develop, test and assure the quality of software across multiple operating systems.  Application compatibility : Support applications from inheritance operating systems as a composite part of a settled platform.

Web browser compatibility testing : Quickly test web applications against a wide selection of browsers on different operating systems from a single computer. PC laboratories & shared computers : immediately revert each computer to a baseline configuration each time the VM is restarted with the Parallels undo-disks feature.

This decreases the load of re-setting shared computers on a continual basis. Compute cloud simulation : Simulate complicated multi-tier environments that copy a cloud computing environment for testing & experimentation purposes in a controlled environment. Web developers : Create and share LAMP, Rails or JAVA environments as VM templates to get rid of the time it takes for developers to install & configure their local machines. Safe web reading : Surf the web within a VM to isolate potential security risks and keep them from impacting desktops, information or applications.
