ParaScale Projects Opportunities for Cloud Storage

Submitted by on August 5, 2009 – 11:02 pmNo Comment

Tier1 projects the cloud service market will be worth $300 million in 2009 and grow at a compound annual rate of growth of 100 % over the following 3 years. In the meantime , researcher Antonio Piraino guesstimates the cloud storage services opportunity account for forty to sixty p.c of this market.

ParaScale Boss man Sajai Krishnan claims the impact of cloud technologies will be “transformational” and cloud will be a serious way by which IT is consumed in the future. This presents service suppliers with both opportunities and challenges. Krishnan claims the public cloud storage service supplier market starts to break into 3 segments. Segment 2 is composed of the complex concern cloud service suppliers who are fast making new services that are mixing virtualization, multi-tenant storage cloud and compute cloud service and non-public hosted clouds.

Eventually , Segment three comprises the giant telcos like ATT, Verizon Business, and Deutsche Telecoms . “While the cloud services market is going to provide upside for a few years, service suppliers must have a well thought-out entry technique to succeed,” announces Krishnan. “Surprisingly, a number of medium sized new entrants are considering a ‘build and they will come’ approach and launching into segment one. This is a recipe for a ‘build and you’ll get run-over’ eventuality, as the goliaths of segment one already have first mover advantage and incredible economies of scale.

Cameron Bahar, the founder and chief technology officer of ParaScale, will be presenting at HostingCon 2009 next Wednesday. In a QA interview, Bahar gives a preview to his “Cloud Storage Technology Trends : earning in 2009″ session where he’s going to discuss the marketplace for cloud storage technology, and who a web host might build a cloud storage service into its offering.
