Savvis to Release Virtual Private Data Center
Entitled Project Spirit, the cloud platform is said to be the first private industry complete the virtualized data center for business customers, giving them access to a range of features and capabilities not previously offered.
The platform will enable companies to acquire a wide range of data center services, including computing power, storage, security and network on a demand basis or as a service through a web interface.
Savvis gave a preview of the service in the conference, which is currently featured in a video presentation posted on its website, which shows the Spirit wizard-based provisioning and drag and drop resource topology design.
But perhaps the biggest selling point of Spirit project is its ability to set the quality of service, which offers three levels of service that vary in capacity.
“Customers will be able to configure your environment through multi-service quality,” says David Shacochis, vice president of research and development at Savvis. “We are introducing the concept of service quality”, which is traditionally used by us and other companies in the area of application and the context of networks and the expansion that we are in the data center and data center switching fabric .
The platform is built around VPDC alliances with Cisco and VMware, using Cisco Nexus 5000 and 7000 switches and software vSphere VMware to deliver these services through a converged data center fabric network and service provider enabling virtualization platform.
Business customers in particular will benefit from VPDC platform, which will be more affordable than alternative methods of accommodation microsites. It will also provide a common platform to deploy new microsites in a fast and efficient.
“We have built a platform that more closely simulates the traditional experience of data center and has the ability, in the way most software programmed rather than interact with it in a provisioning interface,” says Shacochis.
The company will offer the beta version of Spirit project later this year and has already signed some of the participating partners.
With the launch just around the corner, says Shacochis VPDC platform is well positioned for success in a competitive market of clouds.
“The real differentiation from our competitors is the fact that we are building an environment that integrates the resources found in a data center and offers them as part of an integrated platform,” says Shacochis.
VPDC [Savvis'] will be the first step all together: from the core of the network of data centers, a wide area network and Internet access / bandwidth, resources and competition software deployment.
