Slacker Radio on iPhone

Submitted by on 9 June, 2015 – 4:32 am

Leave it to Apple to make Slacker look like a you know. Claimed on Tues.

, Slacker Radio for the iPhone and iPod Touch is just as lip-smacking good as expected, and is prepared to give other streaming music apps like Pandora,, and Tuner Net Radio a thrashing. The app makes the best of Slacker Web Radio’s customary dark, good looks on the iPhone’s tall display. The album art is way more prominently displayed here than on the BlackBerry, and the controls take pole position. You may be in a position to tune a station although it plays, and pick a new station without terminating this song. Selecting the next station is incredibly easy–your favourite and custom stations are at the apex of a vertically scrolling list, with a search option, top stations, and the Slacker focus just under.

Keep scrolling down to flick thru the genres. The tracks sounded great thru the Wi-Fi connection, and reasonably good thru 3G. We are bummed you will not build a new station on the iPhone, and for more pliability, Slacker Radio ought to flip over to landscape mode. Also, though it’s Apple’s doing and not Slacker’s, we miss the app’s capability to cache songs onto a Micro SD card as on the BlackBerry, and similarly its ability to play songs in the background whilst you’re employed on other jobs. The subsequent smartest thing Slacker can offer is to continue playing your station when you reopen the app.

Slacker Radio is free and available now from the iTunes Store. It now works in the U.S. ; Slacker isn’t releasing details on when the service will internationally expand.
