VeriSign Internet Defense Network Enhanced With New DDoS Monitoring Service

Submitted by on 9 October, 2020 – 4:32 am
VeriSign, Inc. (NASDAQ: VRSN), a provider of Internet infrastructure services for the networked world, today announced the launch of a new monitoring service for only distributed denial of service (DDoS). The monitoring service is an extension of the Defense of VeriSign Internet, based on a cloud of DDoS mitigation services introduced earlier this year.

Defense Internet VeriSign is a network monitoring and DDoS hardware agnostic, mitigation and allocation of service that detects and filters out malicious traffic from the websites of the company, helping to maintain online applications and critical services. Leveraging VeriSign’s industry-leading experience in building and protecting large-scale infrastructure, the Internet Advocacy Network VeriSign uses a patented filtering technology to stop a DDoS attack in the cloud before it reaches the network of a client. In addition, the service requires no hardware installation, so it is more profitable than the premise-based solutions.

DDoS attacks have become a serious threat to the line of continuity of business enterprise. What traditionally has been managed as an additional part of bandwidth provisioning and the cost has become a threat to the increasing scale and complexity that deserves a dedicated and mitigation approach. According to a study by Forrester Research, 74 per cent of companies have experienced a DDoS attack of some kind. Moreover, the study found that companies today do not have adequate protection against DDoS attacks, and many of its excess bandwidth – even up to 75 percent – to take account of unexpected traffic including DDoS. This is a costly and inefficient method for DDoS protection, especially for those organizations that can targets for attacks.

“A series of recent high-profile attacks against U.S. and South Korean governments and the popular social networking sites DDoS have moved up the list of concerns for CISOs many,” said Ken Silva, CTO of VeriSign. “Customers who try too much of your bandwidth are Lulling themselves into a false sense of security against an actual DDoS attack. Maintenance of traffic delay comes to your door requires a new cloud-based service such as VeriSign Advocacy Network. Adding track DDoS only service will help many businesses that depend on online commerce and communication by providing a means of monitoring changes in Web site traffic that may indicate an imminent attack.

Companies can use the control DDoS exclusive service to enable the identification of unusual site traffic patterns that may represent an imminent attack – with a cross easier to service if necessary mitigation. Early identification of a potential DDoS attack is a critical aspect of success in mitigating its impact. If an attack occurs, customers are notified immediately by a technician of the Internet Advocacy Network VeriSign, which will seek input from customers to determine if there is a legitimate cause for the increased traffic based on customer activity. VeriSign offers customers then a recommended course of action. In the case of a DDoS attack verified, the Internet Network Defense VeriSign can filter the Web client traffic, blocking virtually all malicious traffic while allowing legitimate traffic to reach your destination. VeriSign sites massively scaled to ensure that businesses have even greater protection against DDoS attacks. Customers can see all this happen through a portal in real time.

“With more businesses run online these days, the motivation of the offender and sophistication are at their highest. The cloud DDoS protection to protect companies in all networks, regardless of their architecture,” said Richard Stiennon, security expert and head of industry research analyst at IT-Harvest. “Traditional solutions are not going to be enough as increasingly sophisticated attacks and the fight against the blockade in the cloud is the best form of defense against denial of service attacks.

“VeriSign Internet Defense Network has significant advantages over ISP / connectivity based services because they often can result in important positions of surplus bandwidth, or in the case of a large company with multiple vendors, they vary in level of service,” added Silva.
