VeriSign Launches Security eHoliday Uptime Bundle

Dulles, VA – VeriSign, Inc. (NASDAQ: VRSN), the trusted provider of Internet infrastructure services for the networked world, today launched the package eHoliday uptime, a trio of cloud-based services that combine to reduce website downtime and network service. VeriSign offers the new package as online retailers seek to strengthen their operations on the web before the holiday shopping season, most importantly, when the availability of secure web page has a significant impact on retail lines “below.

According to the National Retail Federation, for some retailers, the holiday season generates as much as 40 percent of annual sales. With the bundled VeriSign eHoliday uptime, online retailers can improve the availability of its stores and Web services in terms of increased traffic and in the face of threats from hackers and malware. Last year, a single Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) knocked down several major Internet retailers two days before Christmas. “Being forced online in the throes of the holiday season is a nightmare scenario for any business, but for major Internet retailers, losses can run into millions of dollars in a matter of minutes,” said Ted Julian, principal analyst Yankee Group. “Ensuring the availability should be a prime target for retailers and online businesses at all times, especially during the holiday season. VeriSign eHoliday Uptime The package combines three industry-leading offerings to protect the critical components of the Internet infrastructure:

Designed to work with any network infrastructure – including one organized by other providers – uptime eHoliday VeriSign package also allows retailers to run the secondary DNS hosting by VeriSign for incremental infrastructure without additional investment IT or changes to the site hosting and management.

Under a special holiday promotion, customers who register before December 31, 2010 may cancel the service within 90 days, without further commitment. If the customer cancels service during the first 90 days, customers can continue using the package eHoliday uptime for 12 months on the same charges. For customers in outsourcing and the elements of their network infrastructure, such as VeriSign’s DNS hosting can provide flexible purchasing options for dealing with legacy contracts of service.
