Verizon Business to Expand Private IP Network in Africa
Managed hosting provider Verizon Business (www.verizonbusiness.com) announced Monday that it has partnered with Business Gateway Africa (www.gatewaycomms.com) to expand Verizon Business Private IP network capabilities in several African countries.
The decision comes a month after Verizon announced it is expanding its data centers worldwide to meet the growing demand for services in the cloud.
The agreement allows Verizon Business to take advantage of Business Gateway web presence and expand the coverage of multiprotocol label switching network from Verizon to other pan-African 14 countries using the points of interconnection between the networks business.
The MPLS network provides customers with a scalable and flexible IP address cross-continent business communications platform for continued growth and global reach.
Verizon Business customers can now access the private network IP capabilities in Tanzania and Kenya in eastern Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast and Cameroon on the west coast, and Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique and South Africa in central and southern regions.
The company will also expand its private IP network to Uganda, Lesotho, Angola and Zambia.

Verizon Private IP customers can now have access to six classes of service and latency sensitive applications like VoIP and video.
Customers may give priority to applications, as well as use advanced reporting tools for network performance and application at the desktop and the user.
Verizon Business offers a range of managed network services to more than 4,200 customer networks in 142 countries and territories.
