Submitted by on 24 May, 2022 – 4:32 am
After putting on the market for several months, a provider of Web Search Yahoo! ( has a price tag as high as $ 500 million in its business unit that hosts websites for small businesses, two unidentified sources told Reuters.

Seeking $ 350 million to $ 500 million for Yahoo Small Business (, Yahoo received interest from corporate buyers and private equity firms, however, it is unclear whether either party has made a offer, one of the sources according to the Reuters report. A second source said that these potential buyers have been reluctant to offer because the valuation is very high.

The sale of assets of web hosting is likely that part of Yahoo’s efforts to get rid of non-core assets for their brand. Reuters reports that Yahoo Small Business to sell about six months ago, along with the line HotJobs classified job site, and Zimbra, an open source email and calendar groupware application. Yahoo sold its stake in China’s e-commerce firm last week for $ 150 million.

These sales could be considered as part of the recovery strategy from Yahoo after a 47 billion U.S. dollars acquisition of the failure of negotiations with Microsoft last year, which saw its market value fall by more than $ 20 billion. Added to Yahoo! ‘S problems were not a partnership with AOL ( and an advertising revenue sharing agreement with Google (, which dissolved in late 2008, featuring co-founder Jerry Yang decision to resign as CEO in favor of executive technology experience Carol Bartz.

In a post of Data Center Knowledge Rich Miller wrote that the companions or the investment banks may be waiting for Yahoo to reconsider its assessment “, [b] ut the wind changes at Yahoo, along with Bartz reputation no sense suggest that Yahoo could be a motivated seller. ”

In addition, Yahoo has been trying to start the search engine market share from Google. Last month, in order to catch a regional market for online advertising that can increase up to 40 percent this year, Yahoo has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Internet portal Arabic-speaking (www.maktoob . com) to extend its search capabilities to the Arab world.

In July, Yahoo and Microsoft ( signed a partnership agreement web search in which Microsoft power Yahoo search and Yahoo will be responsible for worldwide sales to both companies’ advertisers search premiums.
