Zune HD coming soon

Submitted by on 29 June, 2018 – 4:33 am

Can’t wait to get your hands on Microsoft’s new Zune HD? Beginning today, you can pre-order the device, and, later this month, you’ll be ready to a preview at it, too, Microsoft announces.

Starting today, you can reserve your own Zune HD online with Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, or the Microsoft Store in expectation of the device’s Sep 15 launch date. You may also visit Zune.net / zunehd to find links to the four online shops and to get a more detailed observe the device. ( How will the Zune HD stack up against the iPod Touch? See the tale Zune HD vs iPod Touch : Feature Smackdown ). As predicted, the recommended retail pricing will be $220 for the 16GB model and $290 for the 32GB version. The Zune HD comes in 5 different colours, and you’ll have the choice to add one of 10 new engravings designed by guest artists to the back of your device.

I’d love to tell you more on the available colours and engravings, but Microsoft failed to provide further details. If ordering online isn’t your thing, you’ll be in a position to pre-order in the flesh at Best Buys across the nation beginning Aug 16. You may also get a preview at the Zune HD in select Best Buy locations on Aug 22 and 23.

But the Zune HD also has a couple of things the iPod Touch doesn’t — including HD radio and a power saving OLED display. It also looks like the Zune HD will be in a position to play games, according to Amazon’s pre-order page, but it’s confusing if the Zune HD’s gaming capacities will rival those on the iPod Touch.

On paper, the Zune HD looks like a powerful device, but don’t be stunned if Apple makes a press release about an iPod refresh just days before the Zune HD hits store shelves on Sep 15. One of the rumoured features coming to the iPod lineup is an iPhone-like camera for the iPod Touch, which could give the device a massive benefit over Microsoft’s new Zune. So what do you say? Does the Zune HD be a hard rival for the iPod Touch or will Apple surprise Microsoft by blasting ahead with a host of new iPod features?
